Since the company's beginning, racing has been a hallmark of the Ferrari brand. Ferrari S.P.A. is a multinational sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has had great success. Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of luxury and wealth. Modern day racing Ferrari's include the F138 Formula 1 car, Ferrari 458 GT and the popular Ferrari 458 Challenge used in the popular worldwide single-marque Ferrari Challenge Series.
The combination of the Ferrari 458 GT and West Alex Job Racing is a potent amalgamation of sportscar history and success. Alex Job Racing is a two-time winner of both the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the team has made its name at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The team has won Sebring a record eight times, in 2010 finishing one-two-three in the GTC Class. In addition since their inception, AJR has recorded 68 wins (since 1995). This record is supported by 48 pole positions and 106 podium finishes. The team has won four sportscar championships in the last ten years (GTC 2012, GT in 2004, 2003 and 2002).
The combination of Team West Racing and Alex Job Racing to form Team West Alex Job Racing with Boardwalk Ferrari is embarking on their inaugural season in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The ALMS is a ten race series that spans North America's most challenging racing circuits. Starting at the historic Sebring International Raceway in March, and moving onto the Grand Prix of Long Beach, with Road America, Lime Rock Park, Mosport and Laguna Seca all included the ALMS schedule is a real driver's calendar. Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell rejoin AJR and are poised for success behind the wheel of the Team West Alex Job Racing Ferrari 458 GT in 2013.
